The Thursday 27th September, the Chilean
student marched in Santiago. Organized for the Coordinating Assembly for Secondary
Students (ACES), the National Coordination of Secondary Students (CONES). According to the student the march estimate around
70000 protesters, while the police gave the number
around 50000 protesters. The
march began in Estación Central along La Alameda, and according to the registered
route was due to turn south about six blocks in, along
Avenida España, peacefully but the Violence broke out upon reaching the
designated turn.
Don’t is sure who began
with the violence, the police or the student, but heated interchanges continued
for several hours. Students attack with concrete blocks, glass bottles, paint
balls and molotov coctails at police vehicles, for the other side the police
responded throwing tear gas, and water cannons. The route appointed can’t was continuous because
it was impossible for the violence.
Elisa Disqueto, a human
rights observer, said at the newspaper that had many policemen in the march and
that was so excessive, and the behavior of they didn’t was the best.
Javiera Campos
Menendez, another human rights observer, said that had too few respect for the
human rights when the student was arrested.
The final balance of
the march was 23 police injured and 106 protesters arrested.
